چکیده

Dural arteriovenous fistula (dAVF) of the foramen magnum (FM) region is rare. Moreover, terminology dAVF very confusing in this region. In narrow sense, FM non-sinus-type with direct venous reflux to medulla oblongata or spinal cord via bridging veins (BVs) FM. Previous literature was systematically reviewed investigate clinical characteristics, angioarchitecture, and effective treatment dAVF. From review, almost all feeders were dural branches. Spinal pial arteries rarely involved as feeder. All lesions had medullary BVs. The characterized by a significant male predominance high incidence aggressive symptoms. most common symptom congestive myelopathy, followed hemorrhage. differs from craniocervical junction (CCJ) (AVF) similar thoracolumbar Direct surgery for safe. Endovascular may be more has lower complication rates than that CCJ AVF.

Dural AVF at the foramen magnum with perimedullary

perimedullary venous drainage is known to cause slowly progressive ascending myelopathy involving first the lower limbs and then the upper limbs. Often sphincter disturbances are present (1, 2). Even though it cannot provide precise location of fistula, MRI appearance is virtually pathognomonic. A swollen cord with central myelopathy and engorged perimedullary veins are indicative of the diagno...

Dural Arteriovenous Fistula of the Cavernous Sinus with Brainstem Edema

Dural arteriovenous fistula of the cavernous sinus is usually a benign disease and rarely has brainstem edema as its complication. We present a patient with dural arteriovenous fistula of the cavernous sinus and brainstem edema. The brainstem edema resolved after embolization. Embolization should be considered first whenever brainstem edema occurs, progressive visual deterioration or increased ...

Foramen Magnum Dural Arteriovenous Fistula Treated by a Microsurgical Technique Combined with a Feeder Occlusion Using Transarterial Coil Embolization.

The treatment of dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) at the foramen magnum remains controversial by reason that DAVFs appearing from the foramen magnum represent only a minority of spinal DAVFs. We present our treatment for an asymptomatic patient suffering from a foramen magnum DAVF. A 53-year-old man presented to our hospital with the complaint of a floating sensation. Although there was no ...
